Stephan Mussil, July 16 1952, (Vienna, Austria).

After attending high school, he studied at the "Höhere Graphische Bundes-Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt" in Viena – Photography and Film Department (with Hartmann and Schwingenschlögl as his teachers).

When he finished his studies, he worked in different projects, among them: "Netzhauttöter"(1970), "Vasarely" (1971) and "Bazooka" (1972).

In 1972 he co-founded the "Graphiennale". He later graduated from the University of Bielefeld in the Photograph and Painting Design Department (with Holzhäuser and Jäger as his teachers). At that time, he held several painting and photography exhibitions and also worked as an advertising photographer.

From 1974 to 1981 he worked for the ORF (the Austrian public service broadcaster).

In 1982 he founded the film production company Stephan Mussil Filmproduktion. He has directed numerous documentaries, tv commercials, feature films and video clips. He has received several awards and nominations (among them, CIFT, Cift, Goldener Kader, state awards, etc).
